From Inspiration to 66,000+ Flights
Hope Air is celebrating 25 years of Getting Canadians To Getting Better!
Since our first flight in 1986, Hope Air has provided low-income Canadians with over 66,000 flights to get to specialized healthcare that was not available in their home communities.
In the summer of 2011, Hope Air provided its 66,000th flight in 25 years to two-year-old James of Prince George, BC. James was diagnosed with leukemia on Canada Day weekend, and he and his mother were flown by air ambulance to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. After his first round of treatment, James and his mom Stefanie were ready to go home but faced a nine-hour bus ride: Hope Air got them home with a free flight that took just one hour! You can find out more about James’s story here.

As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, Hope Air also welcomed Canada’s Governor General, David Johnston, as our Viceregal Patron in early 2011 and comedian Rick Mercer joined Marc Garneau as Honorary National Patron in September 2011.
This new website is also part of Hope Air’s 25th Anniversary celebrations and offers upgraded service to our Clients, increased recognition to our Airline Partners and other Supporters, and promotes opportunities for all Canadians to support Hope Air’s Mission and Vision.
