Hope Air helps Canadians reach vital medical care

Like you, we believe that all Canadians should have access to the healthcare they need, regardless of where they live or how much money they have. Hope Air is committed to providing families with flights and accommodations when they need to travel long distances for vital medical care. We know you understand how important it is to reduce the stress of people who are already suffering – so they can focus on their health. During the pandemic, we expect an even greater need as appointments are rebooked and job losses make travel even less affordable than ever.

In Canada:

  • 3.2 million live below the poverty line including 566,000 children
  • More than 8 million people have applied for COVID-19 benefits
  • 3 in 10 require a visit to a medical specialist
  • 3 in 10 live outside larger cities and further from healthcare centres

Your support is critical

Your support is essential to Canadian patients so they can reach vital medical appointments and treatments. Without you, 30 per cent of our patients would cancel their medical appointments because of cost and distance, 32 per cent would travel for hours in a car or bus with real discomfort and many would take on unmanageable debt to pay to travel.

Your donation has an immediate impact on families’ lives – on children, adults and seniors who need to travel.

How else can you help?

There are several ways you can support. You can help by setting up a monthly donation or continuing to donate. You can support Give Hope Wings, you can donate your RBC points or hold your own fundraiser. Any way you decide to give, your contribution removes the barriers of cost and distance that prevents families from receiving critical care.

If your organization wants to make a contribution, you can partner with Hope Air or make a donation. When your corporation supports Hope Air, you are giving back to the communities where you live and work.

You can’t imagine how you’ll afford to travel

You’ve just received a devastating diagnosis. While trying to absorb it, you try to imagine how you or your family will ever afford to reach the many appointments that are hundreds of kilometres away.

You can’t pay for flights – it will cost thousands. Travelling by bus is expensive too, and it would make you feel even worse. And how would you afford accommodations in downtown Toronto or Vancouver? You and your family are under an incredible amount of strain.

Hope Air is here for you

If you are in financial need and live far away from your medical care, Hope Air will help you. We will provide you with free flights, bridge and ferry passes (for PEI residents) and accommodations. (Apply here.)

If your doctor says you need a medical escort for travelling, we’ll also provide free flights and accommodations for that person. We want to ensure that you can focus on your health.
