Millions of Canadians travel by air every year to go on vacation, visit friends and relatives or on business. Yet for the many Canadians forced to travel long distances for treatment, Hope Air makes it happen.
Sam is Principal of The Transportation Advisory Group. With more than three decades of civil aviation, transportation and governance experience, he has undertaken leadership roles in the government, private and not-for-profit sectors.
Between 2013 and 2018, Sam served as the full-time Vice-Chair of the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) – Canada's Aeronautical Authority. Prior to his appointment to the CTA, he served as President and CEO of the Canadian Business Aviation Association; and also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Air Transport Association of Canada. Other transportation industry leadership roles include Regional Vice-president of InterVISTAS Transportation Consulting Inc.; and President and CEO of the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council.
Sam has served as a member of numerous boards, delegations and committees. These include the Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace; IATA; ICAO; EASA; the Hope Air Charity; the 2010 Olympics Aviation Security Committee; the Canadian Aviation Executives Safety Network; the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in North America; the International Business Aviation Council; the NAV Canada Advisory Committee; and the Canada Safety Council.
He is currently a member of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade - Transportation and Infrastructure Committee; and the executive committee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation (Pacific Chapter).
In 2002, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for his contributions to public safety.
Sam joined Hope Air's Board of Directors in 2018, after previously serving as a Director from 2008 to 2013.
