(CALGARY) Skies Magazine is a recipient of Hope Air’s 2019 Outstanding Philanthropist Award. The award was presented Wednesday afternoon at the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) convention in Calgary.
Hope Air is the only national charity that provides Canadians in financial need with free travel to medical care far from home, regardless of age or medical need. The Outstanding Philanthropist Award is presented to a CBAA member who has shown exemplary commitment to ensuring equal access to medical care for patients in need across the country. It celebrates their philanthropic leadership, which plays a key role in bridging the gap between home and vital medical care for patients across the country.
Skies Magazine gives readers timely, in-depth editorial content on many aspects of aviation. As such they are always quick to ensure that press releases and news stories about Hope Air are available to their readers in their publication, on their websites and in their newsletters. Spreading the word about the work that we do is an important part of insuring that every patient that could use Hope Air’s services is able to access it, and that every possible supporter is aware of our mission.
“Skies Magazine is a loyal partner,” says Hope Air Chief Executive Officer, Doug Keller-Hobson. “Their editorial staff is quick to feature stories about Hope Air, the work we do, and all of our events and major milestones. Their stories allow us to reach new supporters and patients who might not have otherwise heard about our organization.”
“Everyone at Skies is thrilled to receive Hope Air’s 2019 Philanthropist of the Year Award,” says Lisa Gordon, Skies Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief. “Our magazine tells the stories of Canadian aviation, and there is none better than Hope Air and its noble mission to help Canadians access quality health care, no matter where they live. Hope Air is a wonderful example of how aviation and medicine can work together to help those who need it most.”
is Canada’s only national charity providing Canadians in financial need with free travel to medical care far from home, regardless of age or medical need. Since its inception in 1986, Hope Air has provided more than 140,000 travel arrangements to patients in need.
For people living on a low income in small and rural communities, distance and cost are very real barriers to them accessing vital medical care. Hope Air is a unique and essential part of our Canadian healthcare system. Without the access Hope Air provides, our national system of universal healthcare coverage would fall short of its promise.
