Give Hope Wings – The Northwest Expedition Takes off in June

(TORONTO) –Give Hope Wings – The Northwest Expedition will take off this summer raising money for Hope Air. The once-in-a lifetime adventure will take volunteer pilots and flight crew on a unique journey 12,000 kilometres across British Columbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Alaska and raise funds to provide 1,000 flights for Canadians in financial need who must travel far from home for the medical care.
This adventure will begin when the Give Hope Wings crew departs in small planes from BC on June 15, 2019. The three-week journey will take the crew around the perimeter of the northwest of the North American continent.
All of the pilots and passengers participating in the expedition are fundraising for Hope Air. The generous gifts of supporters will allow low-income patients in small and rural communities to access healthcare. The flights that Hope Air provides removes the burden of cost and long distance road travel from families facing illness and allows them to focus instead on what is important – their health.
The first few stops on the Give Hope Wings journey will include launch events in the communities of Pitt Meadows, Quesnel, Prince George and Fort St. John. There, community hosts, and Hope Air supporters will get a chance to meet the Give Hope Wings crew and wish them well on their journey.

Hope Air is Canada’s only national charity providing Canadians in financial need with free travel to medical care far from home, regardless of age or medical need .Since its inception in 1986, Hope Air has provided more than 140,000 travel arrangements to patients in need.
For people living on a low income in small and rural communities, distance and cost are very real barriers to them accessing vital medical care. Hope Air is a unique and essential part of our Canadian healthcare system. Without the access Hope Air provides, our national system of universal healthcare coverage would fall short of its promise.
