Hope Air is pleased to announce the appointment of Ed Johnston and John Andrew to its Board of Directors, for a 3-year term effective May 13, 2025.

Ed Johnston is a resident of Waterdown, Ontario and has served as a Hope Air volunteer pilot, flying numerous missions to assist patients in need, who have to travel long distance for care. In addition, Ed has been leader in the organization of the annual Give Hope Wings expedition, that raises significant donations and awareness for the charity. Prior to retirement, Ed served as an executive with the Canadian Tire corporation. Ed also serves as President of the Board of the Brantford Flying Club.

Dr. John Andrew is based in Kingston, Ontario and has also served with distinction as a volunteer pilot with Hope Air for many years. John has flown many missions helping residents based in Northern Ontario, travel south to Toronto or other cities to reach medical specialty care. From 2000 – 2022, John served as a professor at Queen’s University’s School of Business and director of an executive development enterprise for the university. John is currently an independent wealth advisor, and has also served on several corporate boards of directors.

“We are delighted to welcome Ed Johnston and Dr. John Andrew to the Hope Air Board of Directors” said Tahir Ayub, Chair of the Board. “Both Ed and John have served as long time volunteers with Hope Air, including flying missions to assist patients with medical travel to hospital, far from home. This experience, combined with their private sector and academic credentials, will strengthen our Board and our charity”.

“I’ve seen firsthand the impact Hope Air has on patients and families, and I’m honoured to support this mission in a new way as a board member and continuing to help Hope Air grow its reach and capacity to serve.” said Ed Johnston.

“Flying for Hope Air has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life,” said Dr. John Andrew. “Joining the Board is a natural extension of my commitment to ensuring equal access to health care, no matter where someone lives.”
