St. John’s International Airport Hosts First-Ever Haul for Hope in Newfoundland & Labrador

St. John’s, NL – September 12, 2025 – St. John’s International Airport welcomed the community today for the first-ever Haul for Hope in Newfoundland and Labrador. More than 150 participants across 13 teams came together to haul a 67,000 lb firetruck 75 metres, raising over $35,000 in support of Hope Air patients who must travel far from home for vital medical care.

“St. John’s International Airport is proud to bring Haul for Hope to our province for the first time,” said Dennis Hogan, CEO, St. John’s International Airport Authority. “Seeing our community come together with such energy and generosity to support Newfoundlanders and Labradorians facing long journeys for medical care is truly inspiring. We are honoured to play a role in making this important event a reality.”

“Bringing Haul for Hope to St. John’s is an exciting milestone,” said Mark Rubinstein, Chief Hope Officer at Hope Air. “The commitment shown by our partners and the community ensures that distance and financial barriers do not stand in the way of accessing essential medical care. Together, we are delivering hope to patients and families across the country.”

“Porter Airlines is honoured to support Haul for Hope as Presenting Sponsor in Eastern Canada,” said Michael Deluce, CEO of Porter Airlines. “This event reflects our deep commitment to the communities we serve, including here in St. John’s. By partnering with Hope Air, we’re helping ensure that patients and families can access the medical care they need, no matter the distance.”

Porter Airlines, a long-time Hope Air partner, served as Presenting Sponsor for Eastern Canada, supporting events in both Toronto and St. John’s. Their continued commitment ensures patients across Atlantic Canada can reach medical appointments they might otherwise miss.
