Amir, a young boy from St. John’s, NL, faced a daunting diagnosis of retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive eye cancer. With no local specialists, he had to travel to SickKids in Toronto for diagnosis and treatment, adding significant stress for his single mother, Chantal, who was juggling the care of two children.

Hope Air stepped in to help, providing much-needed support for travel and accommodations. This assistance allowed Amir to access life-saving care without placing an unbearable financial burden on his family. After being diagnosed with a Group D tumor in his right eye, the decision was made to remove the eye, offering the best chance for a cancer-free future.

Since late 2023, Hope Air has supported multiple trips for Amir’s treatments and follow-ups, ensuring he continues to receive the care he needs. This support has alleviated financial and emotional stress, allowing Chantal to focus on her son’s health and well-being. Hope Air’s impact on their journey has been profound and essential for Amir’s recovery.
