For patients living across Northern Ontario and Manitoba, accessing specialized medical care often means travelling hundreds of kilometres from home. For most of Hope Air’s 40-year history, Bearskin Airlines has helped make those journeys possible, connecting Hope Air patients with the care they need when distance might otherwise stand in the way.
As Hope Air celebrates 40 years of service, we are proud to recognize Bearskin Airlines as a Hope Air Patron, the highest distinction awarded by our charity. This honour recognizes a longstanding partnership built on a shared commitment to ensuring that geography and financial circumstances never prevent Canadians from accessing essential healthcare.
Since becoming a Hope Air partner in 1988, Bearskin Airlines has donated hundreds of flights for patients travelling to medical appointments, including 114 flights last year alone—all free of charge. By helping remove the financial burden of travel, Bearskin has made it possible for patients and their families to access specialized care that may not be available in their home communities, allowing them to focus on their health instead of how they’ll get there.
Bearskin’s commitment to the communities it serves extends well beyond transportation. For decades, the airline has recognized the vital role regional aviation plays in connecting people to healthcare, supporting Hope Air’s mission to ensure that every Canadian has access to the medical care they need, regardless of where they live.
As Hope Air enters its fifth decade, we thank Bearskin Airlines for nearly 40 years of partnership, generosity, and compassion. Together, we continue to ensure that distance is never a barrier to life-changing medical care.
