Donna Hill

Hope Air’s mission has been shaped by individuals whose compassion and commitment extend far beyond any single role. Donna Hill is one of those individuals.

As Hope Air marks 40 years of service, we are proud to recognize Donna Hill as a Hope Air Patron, the highest distinction awarded by our charity. This honour reflects Donna’s longstanding commitment to helping ensure that no Canadian is left behind because of financial hardship or geographic barriers.

Donna’s involvement with Hope Air began approximately 25 years ago, when she joined the organization as a Patient Service Volunteer supporting clients at some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. From taking flight requests and confirming medical appointments to gathering the financial and medical information needed to approve travel, Donna was often one of the first points of contact for patients facing long and uncertain journeys. Over the course of her service, she dedicated more than 3,400 hours of volunteer support, offering empathy, care, and steady guidance to individuals and families across the country.

In addition to her frontline work, Donna contributed to Hope Air’s leadership and governance through several years of service on the Board of Directors. During this time, she helped guide the organization’s strategic direction while keeping patient needs at the centre of decision making. As a member of the Governance Committee, she supported the recruitment and interviewing of new board members, helping strengthen Hope Air’s leadership and long-term sustainability.

Donna’s contributions were recognized throughout her years of volunteer service. She received multiple tenure awards, including the Faces of Hope President’s Award in 2006, as well as one of the first Spirit of Hope Volunteer Awards in 2008, recognizing more than 1,000 hours of service.

Alongside her volunteer leadership, Donna remains a committed supporter of Hope Air as an individual donor. Her involvement in the Expanding Hope Campaign in 2013 helped strengthen volunteer capacity in Toronto and expand the organization’s ability to support patients nationwide. She continues to champion Hope Air’s mission and remains deeply connected to the organization’s work.

For Donna, her years with Hope Air have been defined by connection. She has reflected on the meaningful relationships built with clients, their resilience in the face of illness and financial strain, and the privilege of being entrusted with their stories. Through her service, Donna became a trusted and reassuring presence for patients during moments of deep uncertainty.

As we reflect on 40 years of impact, we thank Donna Hill for her compassion, leadership, and enduring commitment to Hope Air. Her contributions remain an important part of our history and continue to shape our mission today.
