Hope Air receives funding from TD Bank Group to support access to essential medical care far from home

(December 19, 2023) Hope Air, Canada’s national charity providing full-service travel and accommodation to Canadians in financial need who must travel from rural communities across Canada to access critical medical care far from home, is delighted to announce a new $50,000 grant from TD Bank Group (TD).

This grant will help fund over 150 travel arrangements for Canadians in financial need living in rural and remote communities traveling to specialized care in treatment and ensuring no patient is left behind when accessing health care.

Low-income Canadians, particularly those living in remote and rural communities, often face significant financial barriers to travel for medical care, impacting the quality and outcomes of the health care delivered to them.

Our goal for every patient is to help them have a better health outcome, reduce their financial strain and support them to maintain a strong community by giving them what they need to access health care no matter their geographic location. TD’s donation to Hope Air will go toward helping patients in each step of their journey to lifesaving care.

“We are thrilled to welcome TD into our Hope Air community of supporters. Their dedication to Hope Air showcases their profound support for the small and rural communities we serve. Their solidarity with us and the patients we support speaks to their commitment to fostering resilient individuals and communities,” says Mark Rubinstein, Chief Hope Officer, Hope Air.

“How healthy we feel can have a profound impact on our ability to take part in our community, attend work, or plan for the future. And in today’s changing world, we know that many people face barriers to accessing timely medical diagnoses and care when they need it most,” says Robyn Small, Senior Manager, Philanthropy, Sustainability & Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group. “That’s why, through our corporate citizenship platform the TD Ready Commitment, we’re dedicated to supporting innovative and inclusive solutions like Hope Air that increase equitable access to health services and can help improve health outcomes for all.”

We acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded, traditional territories of many Indigenous peoples. We are grateful for the privilege of being on lands that these peoples have nurtured since time immemorial.
