Jim Burton

For decades, Hope Air’s work in Newfoundland and Labrador has been shaped and sustained by extraordinary community leadership. Few individuals have had a deeper or more enduring impact than Jim Burton , whose leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment have helped define Hope Air’s presence in the province.

As Hope Air celebrates 40 years of service, we are proud to recognize Jim Burton as a Hope Air Patron, the highest distinction awarded by our charity. This honour reflects Jim’s longstanding commitment to advancing Hope Air’s mission in Newfoundland and Labrador through leadership, advocacy, and a deep belief in the power of community to care for one another.

Jim joined Hope Air’s Board of Directors in 2011 and served as an active member until 2017, including time as Chair of the Board. During his tenure, he played a critical role in expanding awareness of Hope Air across the province while helping strengthen fund development efforts to meet the growing needs of patients who must travel for medical care.

In 2016 , while serving as Board Chair, Jim founded Ham, Eggs & Hope, an annual community breakfast built around a simple but powerful idea: that hope is created when people come together to support one another. What began as a local gathering quickly grew into a cornerstone fundraising and awareness event for Hope Air in the province.

Over the years, Ham, Eggs & Hope has raised $270,000 to support medical travel for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, helping families and children reach essential care both within and beyond the province. The event has consistently placed Hope Air patients at the centre, inviting them to share their stories alongside community leaders, Health Ministers, and Premiers, with Jim serving as a thoughtful and passionate advocate for patients at every gathering.

Jim’s leadership has extended far beyond a single event. Through his work with Team RE/MAX Infinity Realty, the Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest, and his broader community involvement, Jim has rallied partners, donors, and volunteers around a shared commitment to equitable healthcare access. His efforts have helped ensure that Hope Air remains visible, trusted, and responsive to the unique travel challenges faced by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

As we reflect on four decades of impact, we thank Jim Burton for his vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication to Hope Air’s mission. His efforts have helped ensure that thousands of patients in Newfoundland and Labrador can reach the care they need, reinforcing the belief that geography should never be a barrier to health.
