Strong systems play a critical role in ensuring people can access care when they need it most. Through its support of Hope Air, RBC Foundation is helping strengthen the infrastructure that supports medically necessary travel for patients across Canada.
As Hope Air celebrates its 40th anniversary, we are proud to recognize RBC Foundation as a Hope Air Patron, the highest distinction awarded by our charity. This honour reflects RBC Foundation’s commitment to helping build stability, improving access to healthcare, and addressing the financial and logistical barriers that can stand between patients and treatment.
RBC’s support for Hope Air spans more than two decades. In 2004, the RBC Rewards Loyalty Points Donation Program was launched, and Hope Air was named one of two charities eligible to receive donated points. From the program’s earliest days, before it later evolved into Avion, Hope Air was a beneficiary, allowing cardholders across Canada to convert everyday spending into medically necessary travel for patients in need.
Today, RBC Foundation’s support continues through a strategic contribution to enhance system-wide processes. A recent donation of $150,000 is strengthening Hope Air’s National Travel Program and supporting the launch of a new client care booking platform serving patients nationwide. This commitment will improve how flights, accommodations, and ground transportation are coordinated, optimizing efficiency, communication, and reliability for patients and caregivers.
By supporting the modernization of Hope Air’s systems, this funding helps ensure that medically necessary travel is delivered with greater dignity and consistency. Improved coordination between patients, caregivers, healthcare providers and travel partners, reduces delays and allows support to be available when and how it is needed.
RBC Foundation’s support aligns with a shared commitment to help create more inclusive access to healthcare and strengthening community wellbeing. Together, this collaboration helps ensure that patients can focus on care and recovery, rather than the cost or complexity of getting there.
As we mark four decades of service, we thank RBC and RBC Foundation for supporting Hope Air and for helping ensure that access to medical care is never limited by where someone lives.
