Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown Partners with Hope Air to Provide Essential Accommodations

Partnership will provide essential accommodations for patients travelling for medical care
TORONTO, ON – [NOVEMBER 5, 2024] – Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown is proud to announce a year-long partnership with Hope Air, Canada’s leading charitable organization dedicated to ensuring that patients in remote and northern communities have access to necessary healthcare services. Through this impactful partnership, Radisson Blu Toronto will serve as an accommodations partner, offering Hope Air 10 nights per month in the exclusive Hope Air Suite which will be allocated to patients in need.

The need for Hope Air patient accommodation is significant. In 2023 alone, Hope Air supported 3,000 patients from over 560 communities, with nearly 25,000 travel-related arrangements. As part of this initiative, Radisson Blu Toronto aims to provide a comfortable and supportive environment for individuals travelling to Toronto for critical medical treatment unavailable in their home regions. The Hope Air Suite will serve as a home away from home for patients, ensuring they have a welcoming and restful stay during their healthcare journey.

“Radisson Blu Toronto is honoured to partner with Hope Air to provide comfort to many who are travelling for uncomfortable reasons,” said Nathalie Lalonde, General Manager, Radisson Blu Toronto. “Through this partnership, we are helping to eliminate barriers for patients whose focus and energy should be on their health, not their accommodations.”

The hotel has named its largest suite the Hope Air Suite in tribute to the partnership. The suite, chosen to ensure patients are as comfortable as possible, whether staying for one night or a week, feels like a home with a roomy living space featuring a fireplace, a dining table for meals, and a luxurious and relaxing bathroom. Those staying in the Hope Air Suite are welcomed with a special care package to spark joy and patients will have breakfast served in-suite each morning adding to the “home” feel.

“We are thrilled to partner with Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown, whose dedication to creating a welcoming and safe space for our patients aligns perfectly with Hope Air’s mission,” said Mark Rubinstein, CEO Hope Air “We are pleased to include Radisson Blu in our network of accommodations partners, and this specific partnership ensures that patients travelling to Toronto can focus on their health and well-being in a place of comfort, free of charge. It’s a powerful step forward in making healthcare accessible to those who need it most, and we’re grateful for Radisson Blu’s commitment to this shared vision.”

Radisson Blu’s commitment to positive social impact extends beyond hospitality. This partnership highlights the hotel’s dedication to supporting the health and well-being of Canadians by ensuring that no one’s access to healthcare is restricted by location.

About Hope Air
Hope Air is Canada’s only national charity providing free travel, accommodations, meals and ground transportation for Canadians in financial need who must access medical care far from home. Since its inception in 1986, Hope Air has provided more than 200,000 travel arrangements for patients regardless of age or medical need.

For people living on a low income in small and rural communities, distance and cost are very real barriers to them accessing vital medical care. Hope Air is a unique and essential part of our Canadian healthcare system. Without the access Hope Air provides, our national system of universal healthcare coverage would fall short of its promise. Hope Air is accredited by Imagine Canada’s Standards. This accreditation validates our commitment to good governance and transparency. For more information, visit hopeair.ca.
