Hope Air takes flight in new ways

Forty years ago, in the early days of Mission Air, now Hope Air, the majority of patients reached the care they needed thanks to the generosity of individuals and corporations who offered seats on their personal or corporate aircrafts.

Over time, that spirit of giving took flight in new ways.

In 1999, the launch of the Volunteer Pilot Program expanded that impact even further, bringing together skilled pilots and aircraft owners to help bridge gaps in access to care by helping to pick up and fly patients from rural parts of Canada to city centres for medical appointments. Today, our Volunteer Pilot Program is going strong and they continue to fly patients to vital care. As the world has evolved, so has the support Hope Air receives. Through long-lasting, committed partnerships with major Canadian airlines, we help provide long-distance travel for patients across the country.

As we celebrate 40 years of Hope Air, we honour how far we’ve come all united by one belief: no patient should be left behind because of cost and distance.
