Toronto, ON – Oct 10, 2025 – Hope Air, Canada’s national charity providing free flights and accommodations for Canadians in financial need who must travel for medical care, is proud to announce renewed support from the KPMG Foundation. This year, the Foundation has committed $75,000 to help ensure patients across Canada can access the critical healthcare they need, no matter where they live or their financial circumstances.
With many Hope Air patients residing in rural and remote communities, the cost and distance of travel to life-saving appointments can be overwhelming. KPMG’s increased support will directly fund flights and travel-related assistance—helping lift that burden from patients and their families like Sawyer, from Kelowna, BC.
Sawyer experienced a stroke before birth and faces ongoing care needs including epilepsy, ASD, moderate intellectual disability, and anxiety. For his family, the long drives to Vancouver for appointments used to be an overwhelming part of their routine—until a Certified Education Assistant introduced them to Hope Air. Today, those journeys are fast flights, and for over three years, Sawyer has been able to receive the care he needs without the worry of travel costs or time away from his siblings.
Sawyer’s mom, Nicole, shared how much this support has meant to her family: “Hope Air has lifted a huge weight from our shoulders. Traveling to Vancouver for Sawyer’s care was exhausting and expensive. Now, with the help of Hope Air and supporters like KPMG, we can focus on Sawyer’s health instead of worrying about how we’ll manage the journey. It has given us hope and time back with our family.”
“At KPMG, supporting our communities is at the heart of who we are. We know that access to healthcare should never depend on where someone lives or what they can afford. That’s why we’re honoured to stand with Hope Air in their mission to remove barriers for Canadians who must travel for care. Together, we are turning hope into action for patients across the country,” said Carol Chiang, Chair of the KPMG Foundation.
Hope Air continues to see rising demand, particularly in provinces where distance is a major access barrier. Partnerships like KPMG are essential to ensuring no Canadian is left behind.
“KPMG’s contribution is making a real difference in the lives of patients who might otherwise go without vital medical care,” said Mark Rubinstein, Chief Executive Officer of Hope Air. “Thanks to community-minded supporters like the KPMG Foundation, families like Sawyer’s can travel without prohibitive costs, enabling them to prioritize healing and well-being.”
