Government of British Columbia

We were honoured to meet with Premier David Eby and Health Minister Josi Osbourne, Government of BC, to recognize their longstanding support of Hope Air’s mission and to present them with the highest recognition of our charity, Patron of Hope Air.

Since 2010, BC has partnered with Hope Air through the BC Family Residence Program, originally created to help children access care at BC Children’s Hospital. Today, through Hope Air, that support has grown to reach people of all ages, travelling for any medical need to hospitals across the province.

In 2023, this commitment deepened with the launch of the BC Cancer Travel Support Program, part of BC’s 10-year Cancer Action Plan, helping patients and their caregivers access life-saving cancer care closer to home.

Together, we are reaching individuals and families in more than 230 communities across British Columbia. In a province defined by vast distances, rugged mountain ranges, coastal terrain, and remote regions, access to care is not always simple—but it should always be possible.

For thousands of people, Hope Air is a lifeline when healthcare is far from home. In 2025 alone, we coordinated over 21,000 medical travel arrangements in BC, including more than 9,300 free flights and 5,000 nights of accommodation, ensuring families never have to choose between their health and their livelihood.

We are deeply grateful to the Government of British Columbia for their leadership and partnership in helping remove barriers to care, and for their continued commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind because of where they live.
