YVR

Since 2011, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has played a critical role in supporting Hope Air and ensuring British Columbians can access hospital care far from home. More than a transportation hub, YVR has been a vital point of connection for patients and families travelling to Vancouver medical centres during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Together with several airline partners, YVR has helped enable over 30,000 Hope Air patient flights. These journeys have helped thousands of families reach specialized and life-saving care that is often only available in Vancouver, reducing the burden of long-distance medical travel and helping patients focus on what matters most: their health.

The need for Hope Air’s services has increased significantly. YVR’s long-standing partnership helps ensure Hope Air can continue to meet this growing demand and respond when families need support most.

Beyond access, YVR’s involvement reflects a deep commitment to community impact and health equity. Through initiatives such as Haul for Hope, YVR brings together partners, volunteers, and supporters to raise critical funds and awareness for patients facing the financial and emotional strain of medical travel. This sustained support strengthens Hope Air’s ability to deliver on the promise of equitable healthcare access for vulnerable Canadians.

As Hope Air approaches its 40th anniversary in 2026, we are proud to recognize Vancouver International Airport as a Hope Air Patron, the highest distinction awarded by our charity. This honour reflects YVR’s exceptional and ongoing leadership in supporting tens of thousands of patients and families who rely on Hope Air to reach essential medical care.

Together, we continue working toward a future where distance and cost never determine a patient’s ability to access healthcare.
