Hope Air Day supports patients like Noah
Noah, from Timmins, was diagnosed with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) and underwent a right nephrectomy at just 5 weeks old. By the age of 14 months, he has already undergone four surgeries and multiple procedures. He will require a kidney transplant by the age of two.
Noah’s family lives 8-9 hours away from SickKids Hospital, requiring in-person follow-ups and procedures every three months. They frequently face hospital admissions in Timmins, with transfers to SickKids. Without the assistance of Hope Air, they would be forced to travel by vehicle, which is not feasible for Noah. He relies on a feeding pump every three hours and takes approximately 22 medications daily, making the one-hour flight a practical necessity for his care.

We’ll mark the day with a VIP only show headlined by Northern Ontario’s own, Cory Marks: country star and pilot. Special guests include Hope Air patients, volunteer pilots, municipal and provincial officials and industry leaders.

No patient left behind
Inequality in healthcare access is a major problem affecting communities from coast to coast and the need for Hope Air’s services has never been greater.
Last year, in Ontario alone, Hope Air fulfilled 3,367 travel arrangements for patients, supporting hundreds of families and individuals across 75 communities throughout Ontario, 165% increase in patient demand for Hope Air medical travel programs compared to the previous year.
Over 800,000 people reside in Northern Ontario, far from specialty medical care such as Sick Kids Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. The medical travel expenses to travel for medical care far from home can exceed $2,000 per patient when including airfare, hotel, meals and ground transportation.
Together, we can support better health and stronger communities by making sure no patient gets left behind.
