How do I schedule an Uber Ride pickup?

Using the Uber application, you can schedule Uber rides to pick you up and drop you off at your airport upon landing.  Before travelling, ensure you have downloaded the latest version of the Uber App , set up your Uber account with your debit or credit card, and claimed your voucher.

After arriving at the airport and collecting your bags, order your Uber ride  through the app.  

Here’s how to request a ride in the Uber app: 

1. Open your app and enter your location and destination in the “Pickup” or “Destination” field. 
2. Swipe up to see all vehicle options available in your area. Tap one to select it for your ride, then tap “Choose Uber X”. 
3. You might be asked to confirm your pickup location. If so, select from a list of locations. This is usually outside the arrivals level of the airport or the designated waiting area at the hospital/hotel. 
4. Tap “Confirm pickup”  to send your request to eligible drivers in the area.  
5. You’ll see an estimated time to be matched with an eligible driver. If no drivers are available for the type of ride you’ve chosen, the app will suggest an alternate ride type with available drivers nearby. 
6. Once a driver accepts your request, you’ll see their location and estimated time of arrival on the map. 

Once you’ve confirmed a ride, you’ll receive an app notification with the driver’s details (name), the vehicle’s details (car make and model, colour and license plate number) and real-time tracking for your ride. 

If you cannot locate your Uber car, the driver may call you or you can message the driver through the app for assistance.  

Follow this process to book your return Uber ride from the hospital or hotel back to the airport, confirming the specific pick-up address on the Uber app.

Using Simple Mode in the Uber App 

Simple mode is a simplified in-app experience made for users who prefer a simpler way to use Uber. Key features include: 

• Larger text and buttons for easier navigation 
• Fewer ride options to reduce decision fatigue 
• A simplified booking flow focused on clarity and confidence 
• Saved places to make getting around easier 

Simple mode makes it easier for older adults to book rides independently. 

How do I turn on/off Simple mode in the Uber App? 

If you want to turn Simple mode on or off: 

• Go to  Account located in the bottom right corner 
• Select  Settings 
• Tap  Accessibility 
• Select  Simple mode, then toggle it on or off. 

You can switch between Simple and Standard mode at any time.
