Join us on November 5th for Hope Air Day in Newfoundland & Labrador

Hope Air works tirelessly to ensure equitable access to health care for people in need, by providing free travel programs for those who must travel to reach specialized medical care.
Join us this November 5th, as we celebrate the impact of Hope Air, ensuring that every resident of Newfoundland & Labrador has equal access to health care, despite distance or income level.

In August 2020, Kristen’s life was disrupted by unexplained symptoms of dizziness, making Kristen’s ability to walk a challenge. Navigating the challenges of the pandemic, Kristen’s mother’s, Carol, persistence led to an MRI, unveiling Kristen’s diagnosis of basilar invagination. Kristen would have to travel from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Halifax, Nova Scotia to undergo the surgery that would treat the diagnosis.

Thanks to Hope Air they were able to reach lifesaving treatment and surgery in Halifax while staying connected to their home community.

Join us as we proclaim Hope Air Day in Newfoundland & Labrador on November 5th. Hope Air Day unites the residents of Newfoundland & Labrador and its community leaders, health care providers and key stakeholders, in supporting equitable access to health care. Together, we celebrate the essential and critical role that Hope Air plays in connecting patients to medical care far from home.

Hope Air Day

For people living in rural, remote and under-served communities, unique barriers to access healthcare exist. Through Hope Air, patients in financial need are provided with free airline, hotel, meals and airport ground transportation – when travelling far from home. Since our founding, Hope Air has provided over 13,000 travel arrangements for patients living in diverse communities including Happy Valley- Goose Bay, Corner Brook, Labrador City, St. Anthony, St. John’s, Gander, Parsons Pond and Conception Bay South, among many others.

Supported by the government of Newfoundland & Labrador, the Northpine Foundation, and other generous donors, partners and volunteers, Hope Air contributes to better health and stronger communities across the Province, eliminating barriers of distance and cost.
