In August 2020, Kristen’s life was disrupted by unexplained symptoms of dizziness, making Kristen’s ability to walk a challenge. Navigating the challenges of the pandemic, Kristen’s mother’s, Carol, persistence led to an MRI, unveiling Kristen’s diagnosis of basilar invagination. Kristen would have to travel from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Halifax, Nova Scotia to undergo the surgery that would treat the diagnosis.

Thanks to Hope Air they were able to reach lifesaving treatment and surgery in Halifax while staying connected to their home community.

Make hope take flight

Better Health. Reduced Poverty. Stronger Communities.

Better Health

Edward, Terrace, Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador
“Basically Hope Air saves lives. This is indeed a necessity that Canadians need, I would not have been able to get all the help that I needed.”

Reduced Poverty

Stephanie, mother to Hope Air patient Zayn, Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador
“Hope Air is a lifesaver for us. It was definitely an eye-opener because I didn’t think help like that existed. They’ve helped us out a lot, and they go above and beyond every time, even on short notice. I’m really thankful and grateful for them.”

Stronger Communities

Cindy, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
“We would have had to move to Toronto and without support from our friends and family,it really helped our mental health and well-being to have our support system close at home [in St. John’s].”

We acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded, traditional territories of many Indigenous peoples. We are grateful for the privilege of being on lands that these peoples have nurtured since time immemorial.
