Seventh annual Ham, Eggs and Hope event raises vital funds for Hope Air

On November 9, supporters from across Newfoundland and Labrador joined together for the 7th annual Ham, Eggs and Hope event hosted by past-Chair of the Hope Air Board Jim Burton. After a two-year hiatus where the event shifted to an online auction, guests were eager to be back in person and filled the room with great energy.

Special guests included Health Minister Tom Osborne and Premier Andrew Furey who spoke to the province’s commitment to accessing healthcare and the importance of giving back. Participants enjoyed breakfast, words of inspiration from Premier Furey, our event host, and the Hickey family who have benefitted from Hope Air’s services.

A total of $40,000 was raised through ticket sales, auction and personal donations – including a special gift from Elaine Dobbin to fund travel for transplants in memory of her sister Pat Hamlyn and Dr. Robert Farrell and Ross Squires who hosted a haunted house event with proceeds directed to Hope Air.

The $40,000 raised through this event helps fund the more than 750 travel arrangements for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2022, as part of nearly $200,000 raised from this celebratory breakfast over the last seven years.

We acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded, traditional territories of many Indigenous peoples. We are grateful for the privilege of being on lands that these peoples have nurtured since time immemorial.
