Hope Air expands Meals and Rides programs to support more Canadians in need

(TORONTO, NOVEMBER 11, 2022) Hope Air announced today the expansion of two new programs, Hope Rides and Hope Meals, to enhance the support of patients and families travelling long-distance to reach critical medical care. With this expansion, Hope Air programs will now be available to more Canadians in need.

Hope Rides
Hope Air now provides additional travel support by way of subsidized car transportation from a patient’s home to departing airport and from arrival airport to hospital/hotel and back. This program – known as “Hope Rides” – is being delivered through the Uber car transportation network and is available at most Canadian airports. Hope Air patients receive an Uber voucher, when requested, that is used as part of the Uber App on the patients’ phone.

This program – known as “Hope Meals” – is now available in most Canadian cities. Hope Meals is provided either in-hotel, or through Uber Eats enabling patients to order from a variety of local restaurants, directly to their accommodation.

About Hope Air
Hope Air is Canada’s only national charity providing free travel, accommodations, meals and ground transportation for Canadians in financial need who must access medical care far from home. Since its inception in 1986, Hope Air has provided more than 165,000 travel arrangements for patients regardless of age or medical need. For people living on a low income in small and rural communities, distance and cost are very real barriers to them accessing vital medical care. Hope Air is a unique and essential part of our Canadian healthcare system. Without the access Hope Air provides, our national system of universal healthcare coverage would fall short of its promise.
