During a routine pregnancy ultrasound, the doctor noticed that their child’s kidneys were two different sizes, but told the family it was not too much of a concern. However, two weeks after birth, Victor developed a fever, leading to a diagnosis of a kidney infection. Care in Charlottetown wasn’t sufficient, and the doctor recommended specialized treatment in Halifax.

This is where Hope Air stepped in, becoming a lifeline for Ihab, a newcomer to Canada and the sole provider for his family. A social worker referred Ihab and his wife to Hope Air, understanding the financial strain they faced. Hope Air not only provided flights but comprehensive support, including accommodations, ground transportation, and meal vouchers.

Ihab, overwhelmed by the prospect of leaving work and navigating a new healthcare system, found comfort in Hope Air’s assistance. Hope Air’s impact extended beyond logistics by providing meal and Uber vouchers, making an unfamiliar journey more manageable.

The emotional toll of traveling far from home for Victor’s care weighed heavily on Ihab. “It was depressing because my son needed treatment, but I didn’t know how we would get there,” he shared.

“I never thought about it, but I needed the help.” Hope Air became the lifeline sparing him from tough choices. “They give me a lot of support, and I would refer every person in my situation just to call you or to apply.” His words capture the gratitude and resilience within the Hope Air community—a community that understands the profound impact of a helping hand.
